What Does the Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) Do?

The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) is a government agency that plays a role in many matters involving consent and capacity. Many of our clients have interacted with the PGT. In some cases the PGT can be a saving grace, acting as guardian when there is no one else available. On the other hand, we've had multiple clients complain that the PGT dropped the ball when acting as temporary guardian.

In our work helping clients to become guardians, we strive to work collaboratively with the PGT to move the file forward as quickly and painlessly as possible. We prepare the paperwork with a goal of making the PGT's job as easy as possible because that is ultimately in the best interests of our clients and their loved ones.
